HOMELESS MINISTRY.
So, a team of us packed up tons of cold water, chicken, bananas, bread, clothes, sanitary items, bibles, blankets and more to go serve the homeless in downtown Houston. We pulled up and it was about 50-80 people waiting on our arrival. They saw us and hopped up to get in line, many of them even helped us to set up :) I can’t even explain to you the blessings that came out of this trip.
Bridge trip happens every 3rd Friday of the month. Last month a man named CJ came to get food/clothes. He was ministered to and he gave his life to Christ, soon after our team found him a home and a good job and of course a great church family. Last night he came to HELP WITH US (awesomeeee). The whole time I had no idea that he was on the Houston streets just last month getting help from us now he is helping WITH us. At the end, he shared his story with all the other homeless people and was a GREAT inspiration and living testimony to God’s provision.
I was helping hand out men’s clothing. A man, I think his name was Carlos, was desperately looking for “Jesus shirts” as he called them. He was like “Please help me find some Jesus shirts! I love Jesus shirts!”. He wanted some shirts with scripture or a biblical message on them so he can minister to others even while living on the streets. He told me that he does street ministry and has dedicated his life to preach the gospel on the streets of Houston. Amazing. Being homeless, he has a heart and STRONG PASSION for ministry and evangelism that people with homes dont even have. He was so sweet, and such a blessing to me, he gave me tips on how to witness to people and how to be a blessing. He was very well spoken and also very soft spoken. I almost cried when he walked off, he touched my heart more than u can even imagine. I’ve been praying for him since then, I pray that God protects him and keeps and and provides him with EVERYTHING that he needs. That guy is awesome!!! SUCH a passion for Christ.
All the people were so grateful that we took the time out of our lives to invest in theirs. They were super excited for the food and clothes but even more excited for the prayer and the good conversation we gave them. One lady said that we are the only people that actually talk to them other than police officers.
While we were there, we took down everyones name and shoe size and next weekend we are going back to give them all a new pair of shoes. I’m excited to go back and they are excited for us to come back. They love hanging out and talking with people. They are amazing and I cant keep my mind off of them. Its amazing what God can do through your life if you put your agenda to the side and follow HIM.
My daughter has also done some street ministry and has always come back spiritually stronger.
